About Me

Claire (she/hers and they/them) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate who spent seven years working in the mental health field before returning to school to pursue a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at NC State, which they completed in May 2025. In their previous clinical roles, they worked as both a Crisis Counselor and a Dual-Diagnosis Mental Health and Substance Use Counselor. Claire also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from UC Berkeley, where they focused on understanding systems of power and oppression. This perspective deeply informs her approach to therapy, as she views individual mental health as inseparable from the systemic and societal contexts in which we live.

Claire practices from an integrative therapeutic approach informed by relational-cultural therapy (RCT) and attachment theory, grounded in the belief that meaningful connections and relationships are central to human well-being. To foster authentic connection in therapy, she enters each session with curiosity and presence, prepared to meet clients in their full complexity and singularity. Her goal is to create a space where people from all backgrounds feel heard, understood, and supported as they work toward desired change in their lives.

Claire provides individual therapy to adults aged 18 and older. They hold a particular passion for working with queer, trans, and non-monogamous individuals; those experiencing grief or facing end-of-life concerns; and individuals navigating relational challenges, life transitions, identity exploration, or existential questions.

While they believe that therapy cannot resolve the material realities of late-stage capitalism or life in a colonized world, they also believe that everyone deserves a supportive space within these systems. For her, an effective therapeutic process must not only support the individual but also embrace collective care and community-based healing.

Claire is guided by the words of the Murri (Indigenous Australian) political activist, Lilla Watson: “If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.” This quote encapsulates their therapeutic philosophy, which centers collaboration, mutual respect, and authenticity within the client-therapist relationship.

Claire currently works with individuals aged 18 years and older.
