Katharine Johnson (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, a National Certified Counselor, and a Certified Autism Specialist. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University.
As a mental health professional, Katharine’s goal is to provide her clients with effective, compassionate, and individualized care as well as advocate for mental health awareness and social justice. Katharine aims to create a safe, inclusive, and diverse space for her clients, and emphasize the importance of each individual’s values, culture, and unique experience.
Because each individual has a unique experience, Katharine utilizes an eclectic approach and integrate techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Person Centered Counseling, to ensure her client’s counseling experience reflects their needs, goals, and values.
We are guided by principles of awareness, compassion and change in our clinical and community-based work. We seek to bring awareness to issues such as racial trauma, interpersonal violence, LGBTQ+ affirmative care and women’s health concerns. We offer accessible services and extensive training through our counseling internship program. And we partner with community groups engaged in activism with and for marginalized groups.
