About Me

Maddox (he/him) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. He holds an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University, as well as an MA in Teaching from Marian University. Maddox strives to provide an affirming environment that uplifts his clients’ voices and centers their cultural values and beliefs. As a counselor, Maddox aims to validate, support, and guide individuals, families, and communities towards increased balance, coping, and connection within their lives.

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by life. We don’t feel good enough. We can struggle with judgmental self-talk. We want to get rid of our inner critic and feel whole. We want to feel peace and grounding in ourselves. We need a supportive, non-judgmental space and therapist who values our lived experiences.

Maddox will help you gain autonomy in your life, feel alignment with your values, and build satisfaction in your relationships. His personal and professional values of anti-racism, anti-ableism, and Health At Every Size inform his practice and approach in building safety. Maddox utilizes his lived experience as a transgender man to support his clients in navigating marginalization, varying degrees of trauma, and/or identities that impact their life.

Maddox’s counseling style centers around active engagement, warmth, empathy, and genuineness. He is formally trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard for OCD treatment. Maddox is trauma-informed and uses an integrated approach of Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Internal Family Systems, somatic based interventions, and Brainspotting. He is passionate about working with transgender kids, teens, and adults, and military families.

Maddox works with adults, children, and teens; aged 8 years and older.

OUR MISSIONWHAT WE STAND FOR

We are guided by principles of awareness, compassion and change in our clinical and community-based work. We seek to bring awareness to issues such as racial trauma, interpersonal violence, LGBTQ+ affirmative care and women’s health concerns. We offer accessible services and extensive training through our counseling internship program. And we partner with community groups engaged in activism with and for marginalized groups.
