About Me

Parker T. Hurley (he/him), Ph.D., is a queer, Black, trans masculine, neurodivergent, Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a master’s degree in community organizing from Hunter College School of Social Work and a doctoral degree in higher education from University of North Carolina – Greensboro. He has been practicing therapy for the past 8 years – providing support and care predominantly to QTBIPOC, mentally ill/chronically ill/disabled and neurodiverse adult survivors. Parker is passionate about supporting people working through complex/developmental trauma, depression, stress & anxiety, relationship struggles, life transitions and internalized oppression. As a generalist practitioner and life-long learner, his therapeutic approach is ever evolving as he continually works to expand his techniques and skills in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), therapeutic horticulture, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Somatics (soon!).

Dr. Hurley’s clinical practice is informed by his experiences of both oppression and privilege; and he strives to provide care that is trauma-informed, anti-ableist, sex and kink positive, fat-positive, poly-friendly and liberation-centered and works from an intersectional/Black feminist/healing justice lens.

In addition to providing therapy with adults in individual and group counseling formats, Parker has 20+ years of experience as a scholar and community organizer within queer and trans liberation movements, developing and amplifying QTBIPOC leadership. He hopes that his practice can be a safe space for survivors of harm within the non-profit or academic industrial complex where they can begin to feel heard, understood, empowered and begin to heal.

His goal is to develop a collaborative relationship with his clients to live what they consider to be their best life – whatever that means for them! He holds space for processes of healing, growth and change with humor and empathy.

OUR MISSIONWHAT WE STAND FOR

We are guided by principles of awareness, compassion and change in our clinical and community-based work. We seek to bring awareness to issues such as racial trauma, interpersonal violence, LGBTQ+ affirmative care and women’s health concerns. We offer accessible services and extensive training through our counseling internship program. And we partner with community groups engaged in activism with and for marginalized groups.
